OUR NAME

Agora

– the ancient Greek act of gathering in an open space – captures our ethos of learning, sharing, and building knowledge by coming together.

Agora

– blue in Spanish – evokes the water that both separates and connects us, holding space for our vast differences while reminding us of our ability to connect across oceans, cultures, and generations.

AgoraZul
is our commitment to gather across difference – in the work we take on, the teams we build, and the distances we bridge.

We are an international and multidisciplinary team that works in a remote modality and travels for projects as required.

Co-founder

Phoebe Kirkup

Phoebe has worked at the intersection of education policy, equity, and international relations for over a decade, supporting project management, research, and stakeholder engagement with organizations including UNESCO. With a bachelor's in international development and a master's in global education policies, she has led work on higher education, inclusion, youth engagement, and sustainability across local and global contexts. Phoebe is now expanding her focus to aging and gerontology – currently pursuing a Certificate in Aging and Gerontology at Toronto Metropolitan University – driven by a commitment to creating more inclusive societies across the full life course. She is particularly interested in the needs and experiences of queer and gender-diverse older adults, intergenerational approaches, and diverse aging populations in Canada.

Co-founder

Josefina Sotomayor

Josefina has more than 14 years of experience in the education and culture sectors, through research and management roles spanning higher education, TVET, youth and community engagement, lifelong learning, employability, and institutional governance. With a bachelor's in economics and master's degrees in public policy and global education policies, she brings a quantitative-oriented perspective with a strong focus on inclusion and equity. Her professional experience spans local and international contexts, across cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural environments that have enriched both her knowledge base and her policy expertise. Josefina is now turning her attention to topics related to active aging and age-friendly societies, with a particular interest in gender, childfree people, and intergenerational dialogue as essential dimensions of a truly inclusive society.

We are particularly committed to understanding and valuing the experiences and contributions of older adults and equally to fostering meaningful intergenerational connections. More broadly, we are passionate about initiatives that amplify the voices and experiences of individuals and communities that have been systematically ignored or marginalized, including considerations of identity, gender, ability and origin, among other factors.

we work              GLOBALLY + COLLABORATIVELY + IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES + ACROSS DISCIPLINES

we promote     CRITICAL THINKING + CREATIVITY + TEAMWORK + POSITIVE IMPACT

we promise      TRANSPARENCY + ADAPTABILITY + PROACTIVENESS + RELIABILITY + QUALITY

Within this framework, we offer project management services across local and global landscapes for short-term projects, events, and long-term programs.  Whether it’s in early-stage development or ready to be implemented, our team is equipped to provide support and management. We are eager to support any project that is rooted in community impact and aligns with our values.
